Ever since Avyanna had seen the movie Free Willy when she was younger, Avyanna has had her heart enchanted by the powerful top natural predators of the seas. She grew up visiting Seaworld in San Diego every summer to see the whales and eventually she started volunteering at whale watching centers once seeing the whales in captivity hurt her more than it made her joyous. Having experienced the difference in behaivor and livelihood between the captive whales and wild orcas, Avyanna has put her extra efforts into studying hard for a degree in Orca whale studies. She's always held the belief that these animals understand more than the average house pet dearly and one day hopes to see a future where they aren't kept as entertainment but are instead preserved in the wild.
Avyanna received her animal totem after having been on a whale watching trip among the volunteers where the pod they encountered had recently had a few calves. She reached her hand out and was allowed the briefest of touches on one of the mothers' rostrum (comparale to land animals noses/muzzles). From this brief contact she recieved a vision, an image of herself she didn't recognize. She drew back somewhat startled but the whale didn't seem disturbed. It dove under the water once more and she sat quietly for the rest of the watching tour in her seat and kept the incident herself.
What did it mean... ?
hopefully this is acceptable!! I always like to imagine when someone has a magical fate they are given a preview of themselves in the place of their destiny. Avyanna isn't particularly stand out-ish and tends to melt into the crowd under pressure so I think seeing herslef in a position where she has a power not MOST people posess in an her senshi uniform would instill some kind of awe in her.
Anyway, yes! Orcas are a little tough to draw!!
Sorry for the shoddy background, too ;;
